My most painted word
This girl wishes to be a poet. She wishes to swim in seas of words and paint each work of art in her own colours, her own brush to create a painting of beauty. Tending to verbosity, embellishment and too much imitation, she despairs of ever writing well enough to please her readers, her critics and her own inner self. She cites her idols as the under-valued Louise Bogan, the exuberant Diane Ackerman, the tragic Sylvia Plath, the late poet-laureate Ted Hughes, the conceited John Donne, the amazing Will Shakespeare, the sorrowful Edward Thomas and the simple but complex figure of W. B. Yeats.
